Event Non-Appearance Insurance
CCW Global can offer Non-Appearance Coverage benefits on Event Insurance plans to ensure that organizers are protected from forfeiting prepaid and irrecoverable expenses should a person who is vital to the successful production of an event.
If, for example, a bride does not show up to her wedding, or if a band fails to make it to their concert, the event which would have required their participation (the wedding and the concert, respectively) cannot continue and would need to be cancelled.
Whilst CCW Global can provide comprehensive event cancellation insurance benefits which cover against a wide range of incidents which may force an event’s cancellation, coverage for a cancellation following the non-appearance of vital person must be purchased as a separate policy provision.

Non-Appearance Insurance Coverage
Should a person vital to the event fail to appear, then a non-appearance coverage benefit on the event insurance plan will ensure that the organizer is covered for the risk of forfeiting their deposits or due payments for the hosting of the event.
Including a non-appearance coverage benefit in an event insurance plan will ensure that an organizer is protected against losing any irrecoverable or prepaid expenses made, or due, for the organization of the event, and the organizer’s expected profits if these are declared to the insurer, should the event be cancelled, postponed or abandoned following an instance of non-appearance.
Covered Reasons for Non-Appearance
A non-appearance coverage benefit will protect the organizer from the financial consequences of cancelling the event if a vital person fails to show up for the following reasons:
- Death, accidental wounding, illness or illegal detention of vital person
- Death of vital person’s spouse, partner, parents, or children of less than 80 years of age.
- Illness or accident of vital person’s spouse, partner, parent, or children of less than 70 years of age when that person’s life is in danger.
- Vital person’s spouse, partner or children are hospitalized for more than 5 working days following an accident when the life of that person is in danger and they are less than 70 years old.
It is important to note that a no-show of the vital person being covered under the non-appearance coverage benefit is limited to a maximum of 8 days in duration with a maximum of 4 cancelled performances.
Non-Appearance Cover Medical Exam
If the total budget of the event is more than US$250,000 then the insurer will normally request a medical examination of the vital person for the inclusion of a non-appearance coverage benefit.
The examination will usually be performed by a doctor appointed by the insurance company and will be paid for by the insurer.
Should the organizer or the vital person not agree to a medical exam then only non-appearance due to an accident will be covered under the policy. Additionally, pre-existing medical conditions are not normally covered under a non-appearance insurance benefit.
Non-Appearance Coverage Exclusions
An Event Insurance plan with a non-appearance coverage benefit will normally exclude failures to appear which stem from:
- Participation in a stunt
- Participation in an air flight other than on a commercial airline
- Participation in endurance competitions
- Participation in a feat, unless declared
- “Burnout”
- Costs otherwise payable under workers compensation or employee’s compensation insurance
- Loss of voice other than as an illness
- Participation in a crime
- Use of drugs or narcotics other than those which have been prescribed by a medical professional.
