Event Cancellation Insurance
One of the biggest risks of putting on an event, no matter what type of event it may be, is the risk of having it cancelled due to reasons beyond your control.
If your wedding venue was flooded due to a burst water main, or if the concert you are producing is called off because a landslide blocked the concert hall, then you will likely forfeit a number of irrecoverable pre-paid expenses.

Coverage
Event Cancellation Coverage
All event insurance plans offered by CCW Global can include a Cancellation coverage benefit. This benefit will ensure that the policyholder is protected from forfeiting:
- Irrecoverable expenses made, or due, for the organization of the event.
- The producer’s profits if these are included in the coverage.
- Additional Costs
If the event is held inside a building then the Cancellation coverage benefit will also include protection against cancellations which occur due to an act of nature or bad weather conditions. However, if the event takes place outside or under a tent then an additional coverage benefit for Inclement Weather protection must be purchased.
Outside of weather, a Cancellation Coverage Benefit on a Hong Kong event Insurance plan will normally protect the organizer for a wide range of risks which may force the cancellation of the event.
Exclusions
Risk Cancellation Exemption
Many event insurance plans will not cover cancellations which occur from a specified exclusion. Common exclusions in relation to Cancellation protection under a Hong Kong Event Insurance policy include:
- Non-Appearance of Persons
- Terrorist Attacks not at the event location
- Bankruptcy or insolvency of any business connected to the event
- Any strike which was announced prior to the purchase of the policy
- Social conflicts between the policyholder and/or the insured
- Communicable diseases or threats which result in a quarantine or travel advisory
Please not that it may be possible to obtain coverage for these exclusions, but that this normally occurs only on a case-by-case basis and are underwritten at the insurance company’s discretion.
